What “demo” actually exists
The playable free version is Dressmaker Prototype 0.5.5 on itch.io, from the original three-person prototype team. It's a name-your-own-price download — free is a valid price — for Windows, macOS and Linux. There is no separate official “Dressmaker Demo” file for the Steam release, and no browser build.
What the prototype includes
- Choosing dress designs before building the garment
- Cutting fabric with the arrow-alignment mechanic
- Sewing pieces together on the machine
- Satisfying — or sabotaging — customers
It's a smaller standalone build: the Steam game's town, shop window, reputation and full commission calendar are not in it.

The build is not notarized, so Gatekeeper will warn you. Use the official Mac security path (right-click → Open) if you're comfortable with that.
